Mission & Policies
Art Exhibits Policy
The library has a gallery area suitable for displaying
framed or mounted art works. Exhibits in the gallery are
scheduled and assembled by the art coordinator. Exhibits
are scheduled several months in advance. Priority in scheduling
is given to exhibiting the work of artists residing in
Downers Grove or the surrounding area. The art coordinator
is responsible for determining whether or not an artist's
work is of a nature, format, and quality appropriate for
the gallery area.
The work must be framed, mounted or otherwise prepared
for hanging on the hooks available. The only exception
to this will be displays of the work of local school children.
No modification of the library facility will be permitted
for the installation of an exhibit.
Prices of the art work may not be displayed in the exhibit.
The library will not act as the artist's agent in the sale
of his or her work. A list of the art work, including the
price and the artist's telephone number, will be kept at
the public service desks and will be provided to visitors
at their request. All sales must be handled by the artist.
