Affordable Care Act
The Affordable Care Act enables people who do not have health insurance to obtain a policy at a reasonable cost. It is also for those who have individual insurance but want to explore other options. Many insurers in Illinois are participating in this program. The law requires that essential health benefits be provided by all insurers in the Health Insurance Marketplace, but additional coverage will differ from plan to plan.
It is your responsibility to check out the insurance packages offered, compare them and select the one that best fits your needs. Open enrollment begins October 1, 2013 and continues to March 31, 2014. Policies will go into effect January 1, 2014.
