Learn to locate the European place of origin of German immigrants using examples from the speaker's own research.

One Author, One Community: Elizabeth Strout

Eleven area libraries are coming together to host Pulitzer award-winning author, Elizabeth Strout! Strout is the author of popular titles Olive Kitteridge and Amy & Isabelle, and her newest book, My Name is Lucy Barton, was released in early 2016. The author visit will consist of a moderated discussion with Rebecca Vnuk, a Q&A with the audience, and a book signing.

Kerbal Space Program

Come to the library and play Kerbal Space Program, a popular space simulator game, and learn about the science behind NASA by launching little green men into space.  Library "space experts" will be on hand to help lead you through the game's beginning trial and error, and help explain the science concepts. Advance registration with a Downers Grove Library card is required.
