Our Book a Librarian service allows you to spend up to an hour with a professional librarian who can offer assistance tailored to your needs.

• This service is available to Downers Grove Library card holders and requires 48-hour advance notice.
• Requests for specific times are dependent on staff availability.

Book a Readers’ Advisor
Do you want to read books similar to your favorite authors, or do you want something different from your usual type of book?  Are you looking for page-turners that will keep you reading late into the night, historical fiction to immerse yourself in past lives and times, an engaging biography, a travel memoir set in a faraway place, or a true crime mystery?  Do you need suggestions to spark discussion in your book group?

• Give us 15 minutes of your time for a discussion of your reading preferences, and we will put together a customized list of authors or titles for you.

Book a Reference Librarian
Do you want to do in-depth research on a topic, but don’t know where to begin?  Are you trying to find information on a particular illness, or do you need help finding business information?  Would you like to learn how to use one of the library’s online sources or have help setting up your account on SWAN?
