This eight-week course will include classes on cinema history, camera basics, post-production, and more and will conclude with a film festival-esque showing of the students' creations. Teens who finish the course will be expected to help train other community members with the skills they learn, as part of our library volunteer program.

NaNoWriMo Write-In

National Novel Writing Month is a worldwide project that brings together professional and amateur writers from all over by encouraging you to write a novel – in a month’s time. Come and write with other participants. We'll provide fuel (coffee and cookies!) and the space. You provide the creativity.

We'll meet at the library to discuss The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty.

Cecilia, married mother of three, stumbles across an envelope from her husband, addressed to her, “to be opened only in the event of my death.” Tess discovers that her husband and her cousin are in love and are really sorry to hurt her, but what can they do? The lives of all three collide when they meet again at the Catholic school they attended as children. This is domestic drama at its best, and includes some laugh-out-loud moments.

Secret Life of Olive Oil

Do you get overwhelmed by the shelves of olive oils and vinegars at the store? Ever wonder how the stuff in your pantry stacks up? Join Unbound for an interactive presentation all about olive oils and balsamic vinegars by Chef Mario at the Olive Tap at 5143 Mochel Drive in downtown Downers Grove! Attendees will learn how to decode labels, use them to flavor foods healthfully, and sample quality oils and vinegars along with hors d’oeuvres. For adults 18 and over. Registration is required.
