Open Preschool Halloween Storytimes

Enjoy stories, songs, and fingerplays that celebrate the excitement and spooky fun of Halloween (not too scary, we promise!) Afterwards we will have a parade to show off everyone's costumes!  Attending children must be supervised by an adult.

Creative Writing Workshop for Teens

1:00pm to 3:00pm
Join us for a creative writing workshop for 7-12th graders. Students will enjoy reading published models, doing writing exercises, and mingling with other teen writers. This workshop will focus on fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. Come with a notebook, pen, and ideas for scenes. This workshop is a great way to get the creative juices flowing for NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) in November. Led by published author, Loyola English professor, and former Downers Grove resident, Nadine Kenney Johnstone.

Earl Tupper invented Tupperware, but single mother Brownie Wise made his plastic ware a household name in the 1950s. Actress and historian Leslie Goddard portrays Brownie Wise as she shares the story how she convinced Earl Tupper to sell his food containers only through home parties. Learn how her pioneering sales approach transformed Tupperware into a multi-million-dollar business.
