It is 1959 and the Space Race with Russia is in full force. NASA has selected seven astronauts to go into space, leaving their wives and families here on earth. The wives rally to support each other and their young families as the media circus around them grows. The fashionable young wives keep brave smiles on as their husbands fly in a death-defying orbit around the earth and the nation collectively holds its breath for their safe return.
