| Keep Reading for Summer Reading Club Prizes There are three weeks left to read and earn prizes by reading with one of our summer reading clubs. All reading clubs run through Sunday, August 3. Ask about our clubs at any public service desk. Help Make the Garden Walk Bloom Purchase and personalize a brick as part of the expansion of the Downers Grove Public Library Foundation’s Garden Walk along the west side of the library. Commemorate a special occasion, honor a loved one, or just leave your mark the library.The expansion will feature a new engraved brick path and landscaping. Donations will be used by the Downers Grove Public Library Foundation to purchase artwork and other enhancements for the library. Donations need to be received before August 1 to be included in the first phase of the installation. For more information, call the Administration Office at (630) 960-1200. Look for Office 2007 on Library Computers Library staff are installing Microsoft® Office 2007 and updating other software on public resources computers. Microsoft® Office 2007 is a suite of software applications that includes word processing, database, spreadsheet, and presentation software. To become familiar with this new software, ask staff for a help manual that can be used in the library and a bookmark listing free online training resources. Cardholders Can Access Valueline Database at Home Value Line Research Center now allows remote access so patrons can search from home with their Downers Grove Public Library card. Search Value Line for information on stocks, mutual funds, options, and convertible securities. Plug Into Playaways Adult fiction and nonfiction books can now be checked out in the new convenient Playaway format. Playaways are digital audiobooks that are ready for patrons to plug into and enjoy. Unlike a book on cassette or compact disc, there are no cassettes or CDs to turn over or change, and no other software or hardware is required, as with an MP3 player. Playways are self-contained, and they’re ready to go! The Junior Room also has a collection of Playaways. Ask about Playaways at the Children’s Services desk on the first floor or the Literature service desk on the second floor.
